Thank you Emma. I will buy after the event. I enjoyed the first one with DJW, but I must admit it was inspiration to get my ironing finished. I do not have any charcoal, but I loved watching the process with a great sense of achievement in getting to the bottom of the ironing. Thanks. 🌹🥰
Lesson 1 is now available here with some extra content, thank you for your patience and don't hesitate to contact us with any further questions on email@example.com - Please note this site is currently in USD.
Live streamed classes are always Wednesday 10am-12:30pm via Zoom Webinar, and the recorded session will be uploaded to the isolationeducation.vhx.tv/ channel ASAP afterwards.
After an immense amount of 'learning experiences' in both hosting and recording a live webinar, it finally looks as though we are successfully uploading the recording for those who missed it live. Details to come. Thank-you all for your continued support and patience during this online video baptism of fire. Perhaps next week Donald may even stand in frame, but no need to fret until he does *spoiler alert* he's been follicley challenged for some time.
I recalling enjoyed our lesson today, thank you all❤️
Thank you Don & Emma for putting this together. I am privileged to be able to be a part of this. Loved it and will be back. Cheers!

Hi Donald James Waters Can I download the lesson at a later time? Unfortunately I have a Virtual ZUMBA class the same time.?
I am working business hours. If I register can I watch the video's in a the evening and repeatedly
I am sitting here feeling totally frustrated. I joined and paid, but I do not know the procedure to use Zoom. It is asking for Meeting ID or join with personal link name, and I cannot get either. I hope you are recording this. thanka
Thanks for a wonderful experience. Love your take on life. I will be there next week !!!
I can’t make the webinar time :(. If I register will it be available as a recording?
Hi Don, will these be run regularly? Me and my daughter would love to do one next week ❤️
Firstly thank-you for the response and support to our increased online presence. Donald the Dinosaur 🦖 has finally conceded there may actually be something in this internet caper! 🤪
After extensive reflection and consultation (or yelling-we are a ‘passionate’ household), we have arrived at an initial online lesson plan for Wednesday’s which will uphold Donald’s unique teaching ethos of PROCESS OVER CONTENT THROUGH COLLABORATIVE INPUT 🙌🏻
Now what on earth 🌍 does that mean 🤷🏻♀️?! I’m sure you’ve heard the old adage about teaching a man to fish 🎣 - Donald wants to teach each individual no matter their skill level the approach and technique to confidently pursue art as on ongoing practise opposed to copying a vase of flowers stroke for stroke and never lifting the brush again... And this is how he plans to do it!
*Edit* these will also be recorded and available for those who can not make the live class.
WEDNESDAY 1st APRIL 10am-12:30pm 1. Evolution a blank canvas - starting with black and white sketching. Art as a mindfulness practice. Turning creative writing into shapes and rotating the canvas. Adding white paint to contaminate charcoal and create a tonal range.
WEDNESDAY 8th APRIL 10am-12:30pm 2. PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES! -how far can you distort your reference material. Compositional layout using references. Using thumbnail sketching to plan your final composition. Rule of thirds, golden mean as a guideline. Traditional drawing to distorted impressionist drawing styles.
WEDNESDAY 15th APRIL 10am-12:30pm 3. THE EASY ONE- Preparation to Paint. Insider tricks to sealing the charcoal / black and white drawing ready to add colour! Glazing and Scumbling- impermanence of colour selections (AKA changing your mind).
We will move on from here to the emotion of colour / line, don’t want to get too far ahead so we can take feedback, make adjustments to improve as we go along.
Student critiques will form part of the lesson format as is a valuable teaching tool, if you wish to opt in by sending your artworks to firstname.lastname@example.org, if you do not wish to participate that is ok too! Don will also monitor the email between lessons to offer troubleshooting and advice. Look forward to seeing you in the live class!
Working in the studio on a commissioned artwork to celebrate a milestone birthday.

I have been hanging it to see what happened to the canvas from last week! 💕 🐉 🦄 😆😘
I have registered, what comes next? Do I have my computer on and logged into email at 10.00am next Wednesday? And don’t forget to wear those silver runners, Don!
As of today, we are an online only business for the foreseeable future. We will be offering interactive live streams, online classes, tutorials, virtual exhibitions and anything else of value we can think of whilst locked down - the possibilities are endless!
Please give us some time to get our ducks in a row, we have our work cutout for us considering DJW currently thinks ‘online’ means hanging out the washing. It’s a brave new world for us all. Stay safe and stay sane ✌🏼❤️ ... See MoreSee Less

In the best interests of public safety, the decision has been made to postpone DJW’s upcoming exhibitions and withdraw him from public events until there is a clearer indication the direction this virus will take, the impact on our more compromised members of society and required resources.
As a vigorously active ambassador for The Arts, Donald does not make this decision lightly. Exhibiting, performing, teaching and mentoring has provided the livelihood of his family now for four decades. Donald is adopting the positive viewpoint that more time in the studio is more time to create and an opportunity to connect.
During this unprecedented time, we will endeavour to make best use of the many online capabilities we are fortunate enough to have at our disposal to share and showcase DJW’s gift to brighten the challenging days ahead. He will continue to open his studio to private and small groups including Create, Consume. for viewings, tutelage, take on commissioned artworks etc. and would love your support!

Two artworks completed exploring the theme ‘Calm & Subdued’. The content (figures in this instance) were decided upon and painted first; the background last.

“... let me tell you something, I have the universe inside, I have an untold ocean With a constant changing tide, I'm home to endless mountains, With tips that touch the sky, Flocks of grand migrating birds, And deserts harsh and dry, I house the wildest rivers, And a host of sweeping plains, I feel in waves of sunshine, Or in unrelenting rains, Don't tell me that you know me, That "this right here is what you are", I am the universe in motion, For I was born from the stars.” -e.h ... Thanks for the advice for Ella Baird at the Bell Art Exhibition 2020 Qld .. I have most of her art on my page.. Trying to encourage her (Stepping stones) to get involved in the community with the gift she has, knowing this was her first attempt in the public art gallery of Bell (Western Downs) Queensland, where art is displayed and judged by yourself .. The winners are well deserved and agree with your comment above, where the high standard was displayed throughout the exhibition. Look forward to seeing your work, now that I've located you on Facebook, and the following / like tab is activated ..
Saw DJW’s face smiling at me from a promo poster in a shop at Beenleigh. He’s everywhere!
They couldn’t have asked for a better judge than Don. He’s a fantastic , knowledgeable and compassionate artist 💗
Citizens of the world are battling the devastating fallout from unexpected disasters such as fire, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and so on.
When facing adversity, the best of humanity is often revealed. Theodore Roosevelt once declared, “Do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are” and I like to think people do.
Events of late have also shown me the monumental value of crowd funding on a large scale. Firstly, giving power back to the individual to make a difference (no matter how small) and in addition to the financial element, a much needed boost of morale to those affected - effectively saying the world can see your plight and supports you!
At a more grassroots level, I’d like to acknowledge the volunteers giving their time, sweat and expertise. My son in law David has travelled from Qld to fire affected areas to use his shopfitting experience help rebuild fencing and outdoor structures - proud is an understatement!
I wondered for a while how I could best contribute my resources and skills as an artist and several opportunities have presented themselves. The most recent being the chance to illustrate a tablecloth for auction on a holiday train journey with Great Southern Rail to Adelaide which raised $4,100 for Bushfire Relief. What an emotional experience!
I urge everyone to keep doing the best with what they have. How utterly terrible and wonderful is life. ... See MoreSee Less

In the 80’s, DJW’s artwork ‘The Gathering’ was the very first of hundreds (possibly now thousands) of his images to go into reproduction.
The print features the very popular Rainbow Lorikeet Series distributed by QE Designer Gifts at the time, which extended into hand painted clothing, glassware and ceramics. DJW states “as fast as I could paint them, they were selling them” and consequently suffered ‘birdie burnout’.
DJW finally revisited the rainbow lorikeet during teaching this week. If you compare the pictures side by side, you can see what has happened to his brain over the past 40 years 🤣 ... See MoreSee Less

🥰Today was a huge success for everyone! So awesome to have Donald Waters OAM and Peter Ryan rubbing shoulders with our customer today, the place was buzzing! But little Soraya was a bit tuckered out by the end of it.
